2026 VOTER INFORMATION AND FAQs
The Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund believes that a healthy democracy and a healthy environment go hand-in-hand. This is why ensuring strong voter participation is at the core of our mission. Below, you’ll find a number of resources to help you navigate this year’s elections, including what’s on the ballot, and important deadlines to keep in mind.
When’s the Next Election?
The 2026 General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
What’s on the ballot in 2026?
- Congress – U.S. Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives
- Special Elections – Virginia House of Delegates District 20 (Manassas/Prince William) and a number of local offices.
- Local offices (Board of Supervisors, Town/City Council, Mayor)
- Three Constitutional Amendments:
- Proposed Constitutional Amendment, Question 1
- Proposed Constitutional Amendment, Question 2
- Proposed Constitutional Amendment, Question 3

Before you go to the polls, you should:
- Find your local voter registration office.
- Find a satellite early voting location.
- See who’s on your ballot.
Other things to know about voting early:
- You do not have to have a reason or fill out an application to vote early.
- At the registrar’s office or satellite voting location, you will be asked to provide your name and address and show an acceptable form of ID; if you don’t have an ID, you can still vote by signing an ID Confirmation Statement.
- Accessible equipment and/or curbside voting are available upon request.
- And remember, as a voter, you have rights!
Other important deadlines to keep in mind heading toward Election Day:
- Friday, Sept. 18, 2026: The first day of early voting in Virginia for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election.
- Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026: The last day for early in-person voting for the Virginia General Election; offices will be open until 5 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 23, 2026 at 5 p.m.: The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you for the Nov. 3, 2026 Virginia General Election.
- Friday, Oct.23, 2026: The last day to register to vote for the Virginia general election or update your registration if you’ve relocated, had a name change, or recently turned 18. Keep in mind, Virginia now has same-day registration, meaning voters may register through Election Day, and vote using a provisional ballot.
- Saturday, Oct. 24: Local voter registration offices will be open for early voting.
- Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day! Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
