Election Calendar
Some localities have elections in May for local offices (mayor, town/city council) while General Assembly and statewide elections occur in November.

Am I registered?
Always check to see that your registration status is still active.  You will need to re-register if you have moved or, sometimes, if you have been an inactive voter during the last few elections.

How do I register?
Be mindful of the registration deadline.  You must be registered 29 days before Election Day to be eligible to vote.

Where do I vote?
Sometimes polling places change, so make sure to double check before you head out to the polls on Election Day.

Do I need identification?
Virginia is among the states that now requires photo identification for in-person voting on Election Day. There are many different types of photo IDs that voters can use when they vote. All of the acceptable forms of photo ID can be used up to a year after the ID has expired.

Can I vote absentee?
You must meet certain criteria to vote absentee.  If you meet any of these criteria, absentee voting is a great option to make sure you are able to vote quickly and conveniently.
