Elected officials, representatives from TRANE, staffers at Virginia’s DMV and Virginia LCV Education Fund staff tour energy efficiency improvements at DMV headquarters in Richmond during a May tour.

The Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund recently partnered with TRANE and the Department of Motor Vehicles to hold an energy efficiency tour at DMV Headquarters in Richmond for elected officials from both parties, their staff and members of Governor McAuliffe’s administration.

TRANE worked with DMV on the project and lead engineers involved in the energy efficiency update led the tour after Deputy Commissioner David Mitchell and our Executive Director, Mike Town, provided an introduction to the tour.

The opening discussion and tour showed how reinvesting in government buildings leads to a decrease in deferred maintenance (which is currently estimated to be $2 billion in the commonwealth), how annual savings on energy bills will cover the cost of the performance contracting project, and is a good use of taxpayer dollars, all while reducing overall energy use.
