Happy Hour events unite conservations in RVA, Hampton Roads

Virginia League of Conservation Voters Education Fund partnered with Moms Clean Air Force to host two happy hour events, one in Richmond at Postbellum and one in Virginia Beach at Croc’s 19th Street Bistro as part of the Hampton Roads area’s monthly Green Drinks event.

Moms Clean Air Force is a community of moms and dads united against air pollution – including the urgent crisis of our changing climate – to protect our children’s health. Conservation-minded individuals from the community and our members attended to learn more about key issues our organizations are working on and to talk to fellow community members who are environmental advocates.

Becca Summers, VALCVEF’s Advocacy Coordinator and Terra Pascarosa, Regional Field Manager for Moms Clean Air Force, both presented on the top priorities of their organization and provided opportunities for attendees to take action. As we deepen our involvement in the coal ash debate in our state, one of the issues our Advocacy Coordinator discussed was the complexities surrounding Dominion’s coal ash site closures, specifically explaining the importance of pushing back on Dominion’s plan to cap coal ash ponds in place and taking questions from attendees.
